European Night at CES 2025: what the EIC is staging in Las Vegas

On the evening of 7 January 2025 the European Innovation Council will host its annual European Night during CES in Las Vegas. The event is described as an exclusive invite only networking reception that brings together more than 400 distinguished guests from over 20 European countries and influential US venture capitalists, corporate executives and investors active in fields such as artificial intelligence, internet of things, cleantech, blockchain and digital health.

Organisation, hosts and high level guests

European Night is organised by the European Innovation Council and supported by national partners including Belgium, Estonia, France, Italy, the Netherlands and Poland, together with the Choose Europe network. The session will open with welcome remarks from Jean-David Malo, Director of the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency, H.R.H. Prince Constantijn van Oranje, Special Envoy at Techleap.nl, and Gary Shapiro, President and CEO of the Consumer Technology Association, along with senior European officials. The event is framed as a transatlantic bridge intended to showcase European innovation and to seed cross border partnerships.

European Night overview:An invite only reception on 7 January 2025 during CES that gathers European innovators and US investors, designed to promote Europe’s tech ecosystem, enable networking across sectors and countries, and support cross border collaboration between companies and potential partners.

What the EIC says it will deliver

The event highlights listed by organisers include networking with influential leaders from Europe and the United States, broad promotion of Europe’s tech ecosystem at CES, and strengthening transatlantic ties in cutting edge industries. The European Night is presented as one of the EIC’s flagship outreach moments at the world’s most influential technology trade show.

Why CES matters for European tech:CES remains one of the largest global stages for commercial technology. The show attracts large numbers of investors, corporate partners and media, which can convert visibility into commercial leads or funding. For European SMEs and scaleups, CES is an opportunity to signal scale up ambitions and to access US and international markets. At the same time the environment is crowded and noisy, and presence does not guarantee follow on investment or sales.

EIC International Trade Fairs Programme 3.0 and the delegation to CES

The EIC International Trade Fairs Programme 3.0 supports EIC awardees to pursue commercialisation and business development at major fairs worldwide. The programme offers selected EIC funded SMEs, startups and scaleups from EU Member States and Associated Countries access to exhibition space, coaching, matchmaking and other business acceleration services. For CES 2025 the EIC selected a delegation of 15 companies to showcase at the European Pavilion.

EIC International Trade Fairs Programme 3.0 explained:A support scheme run by the EIC and EISMEA that helps awardees take part in major trade fairs. Services typically include space at shared pavilions, pre departure briefings, onsite matchmaking and coaching. The programme is restricted to organisations that have received EIC funding and to participants from EU Member States and Horizon Europe associated countries.

These companies were prepared for CES through the EIC Business Acceleration Services. The EIC ran a pre departure workshop on 26 September and the delegation also participated in CES Unveiled Amsterdam on 15 October as a rehearsal and networking opportunity ahead of Las Vegas. At CES the group will be located at the European Pavilion in Eureka Park, Hall G, booth 60633.

Exhibition logistics and on site services:Selected companies will exhibit at the European Pavilion in Eureka Park and receive additional coaching services, onsite matchmaking, reverse pitch sessions and targeted one on one meetings with investors and corporate partners. These services are intended to increase the chances of commercial traction while at the fair.

Context and critical perspective

The European Night and the EIC pavilion are part of a broader EU effort to raise the profile of European deep tech and to catalyse international partnerships. EIC and EISMEA have been building these programmes over multiple years and this will be the fourth delegation the EIC brings to CES. The programmes offer useful services that mitigate some of the logistical and visibility hurdles startups face at major trade shows.

What organisers do not detail:Public announcements do not provide measurable follow up indicators such as the number and value of investment deals closed as a result of EIC trade fair support, conversion rates for matchmaking meetings, or long term export outcomes. That data is important to assess the return on public spending and the real commercial impact of these high profile networking events.

There are additional, practical caveats. CES is an expensive environment. A national or EU branded pavilion gives visibility but does not guarantee access to the most relevant investors or corporate partners. The invite only nature of European Night concentrates access among a curated guest list which can help open doors, but it also risks reinforcing existing networks and leaving lesser known regions or founders with less exposure.

What to watch during and after CES

Follow the EIC’s live coverage and the #EUatCES2025 hashtag to see announcements, pitching sessions and partnership news. Watch for data on outcomes after the event, such as announced commercial deals, investment rounds involving EIC funded companies, pilot agreements with corporates and follow up support from national funds or EIC services. Transparency about concrete results will matter for evaluating the programme’s effectiveness.

Follow up and accountability:Public authorities should publish post event summaries with quantifiable outcomes and lessons learned. That information helps justify public expenditure and improves future selections and support design. Expect statements from organisers about connections made but verify those with subsequent deal announcements and independent reporting.

Practical information

European Night takes place on 7 January 2025. The EIC pavilion is in Eureka Park Hall G at booth 60633. Live updates are available via the hashtag #EUatCES2025 on LinkedIn and X and through EIC and EISMEA channels. The programme is implemented by the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency which manages EIC operational activity on behalf of the Commission.

If you are tracking the event, note that promotional language in press releases focuses on visibility and networks. For a complete understanding of impact, look for follow up reporting that details investment figures, commercial contracts and export metrics associated with the participating companies.
