Next session: Doing business in Vietnam for the EU clean tech industry

The next webinar in the series is Doing business in Vietnam: commercial opportunities for the EU Clean Tech Industry. It is scheduled for 7 March 2024 from 10:00 to 11:00 CET and is organised by the Enterprise Europe Network. The session will discuss access and commercial opportunities in Vietnam s clean technology sector and outline government projects relevant to clean tech investment. The speakers will cover legal frameworks for structuring deals or establishing legal entities, and present concrete case studies of European clean tech investment in Vietnam. Participants will be able to ask questions during a dedicated Q&A.

Why Vietnam matters for EU clean tech firms

Vietnam is among Southeast Asia s faster growing economies and its power demand and industrial activity have risen rapidly. Governments in the region are pursuing renewable energy and electrification to keep pace with growth. For EU clean tech companies this creates potential demand for technologies from generation and storage to grid management and efficiency solutions. That opportunity comes with trade offs. Market entry may require significant local adaptation. Public procurement and project pipelines can be attractive but often involve complex bidding rules and local partner requirements. Regulatory unpredictability, limited access to project finance, currency and contract enforcement risks, and intellectual property protection are practical issues that companies should test before committing significant resources.

Practical advice and limits of the webinars

These webinars can be useful to screen opportunities and identify risks before committing resources. They are not a substitute for detailed legal, tax or commercial due diligence. Market entry often requires local counsel, finance partners and experienced local co founders or distributors. Regulatory regimes and procurement rules change and project timelines can be long. Companies should treat webinar material as preparatory information and follow up with bespoke advice for major decisions.

How to join and the official disclaimer

Registration for individual webinars is handled by the Enterprise Europe Network. Interested participants should register through the EEN event pages. The organisers note that the information shared in the webinars is provided in the interest of knowledge sharing and should not be interpreted as the official view of the European Commission or any other organisation. Participants should verify regulatory and legal points with appropriate advisers.

For firms seeking to expand beyond initial webinars the Enterprise Europe Network and EISMEA offer further advisory services through local contact points. Those services can help with partner search, matchmaking, and accessing EU supported internationalisation programmes. Expect follow up to require resources and time to translate general guidance into a market entry plan.
